ARTESIA, Miss. (WTVA) – A woman who saw a bus full of kids overturn shared how she rushed to help.

Nikki Cooperwood said she saw the collision happen and joined many others in getting children safely off the bus.

She said she saw the impact that sent the bus rolling.

“Once it stopped, I just jumped out of my vehicle,” Cooperwood said. “I was praying nobody was on the bus. But once I got out, you could hear the kids screaming and hollering. I ran to start getting some of the kids off the bus. I got a few out through the window. Then two men came running up. They opened the back emergency door, and we got the rest of the kids off the bus that way.”

More of what she saw will be shared at WTVA 9 News at 10 p.m. on Sept. 16.
