(WTVA) — A serious school bus crash in Lowndes County injured several children. The crash happened Tuesday afternoon along Highway 45 near Artesia. Lowndes County Sheriff Eddie Hawkins said a vehicle pulled out in front of the Lowndes County School District bus. The crash caused the bus to roll over and eject several children, the sheriff said. Hawkins said the crash injured several children, but the exact number of injuries is unknown at this time. He said medics airlifted one child and ambulances transported others. Some parents picked up their children at the crash site. Copyright 2026 WTVA. All rights reserved.
