The initial lack of information about McConnell\u2019s health prompted unusual public intervention from Kentucky\u2019s Democratic governor, Andy Beshear, who published an open letter urging the senator toreassure his constituents.The longest-serving Senate leader, McConnell will retire at the end of his term in January, and rejected calls to resign before then.
