Acting Belgorod region Governor Alexander Shuvayev (https://t.me/aleksandr_shuvaev/1679) confirmed one death in an attack near the border with Ukraine. He also said that a woman who was hospitalized for her injuries following strikes earlier this month had died. In the nearby Rostov region, Governor Yury Slyusar (https://t.me/Yuri_Slusar/7145) said an Ozon warehouse was among several sites damaged during a missile attack on the port city of Taganrog. Ozon (https://t.me/ozonhq/1518) confirmed that it suspended operations at the facility, where it said a fire broke out. No one was hurt, the company said. Federal investigators (https://t.me/sledcom_press/31859) launched a criminal probe into terrorism over the attacks on Taganrog, citing damage to Ozon and other residential and agricultural buildings. news (https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2026/09/15/ukraine-wants-specifics-from-partners-on-halting-strikes-zelensky-says) (Ukraine Wants Specifics From Partners on Halting Strikes, Zelensky Says) Ukraine Wants Specifics From Partners on Halting Strikes, Zelensky Says Read more Samara region Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev (https://t.me/fedorishchev_official/1834) said an “industrial facility” was damaged in overnight strikes. Unconfirmed reports (https://t.me/astrapress/125207) said that a fire broke out at the Syzran Oil Refinery. NASA’s fire monitoring service FIRMS (https://firms.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/map/#d:24hrs;@48.466,53.164,12.000z) showed an active fire Tuesday morning on the southwestern outskirts of Syzran, where the refinery, which has been (https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2026/05/21/2-killed-in-samara-region-after-ukrainian-drones-reportedly-strike-oil-refinery-a92807) attacked multiple times this year, is located. Russia’s Defense Ministry said it intercepted 222 Ukrainian drones across Russia and annexed Crimea between Monday night and Tuesday morning. In Ukraine, officials said one person was killed in Russia n attacks on Kyiv. Separate attacks on the city of Zaporizhzhia also killed one person. Two gas stations in Kyiv were damaged in the overnight strikes , the state energy company Naftogaz said. The attacks targeting energy infrastructure in both Russia and Ukraine came despite an announcement by U.S. Donald Trump earlier in the week that the two warring sides allegedly agreed to pause such attacks. Trump has sought to blame the surging cost of diesel in the United States on Ukrainian strikes against Russian oil refineries. While those attacks have put pressure on fuel prices both inside Russia and globally, so too has the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran led to major disruptions in energy markets. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday that Trump’ s suggestion for a ceasefire on energy sites, which has been repeatedly floated over the past year, was a “ very good idea” but alone would not bring down global fuel costs. Russia's Prosecutor General's Office has designated The Moscow Times as an "undesirable" organization, criminalizing our work and putting our staff at risk of prosecution. This follows our earlier unjust labeling as a "foreign agent." These actions are direct attempts to silence independent journalism in Russia. The authorities claim our work "discredits the decisions of the Russian leadership." We see things differently: we strive to provide accurate, unbiased reporting on Russia. We, the journalists of The Moscow Times, refuse to be silenced.
