                    "Anthropic detected and disrupted a UAE-directed influence operation targeting the Muslim Brotherhood, the artificial intelligence (AI) company said in its September intelligence threat report.\n\nThe company said that a \u201csingle actor\u201d used Anthropic\u2019s AI assistant, Claude, to conduct a \u201ccoordinated transatlantic and regional operation to dismantle the Muslim Brotherhood globally.\u201d\n\nThe campaign built a network of approximately 300 \u201cinauthentic influencer social media accounts\u201d to try and shape discourse around the Muslim Brotherhood, the war in Sudan \u2013 where the UAE backs the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces \u2013 and the United Nations, which was trying to hold Abu Dhabi to account for its role in the war.\n\nThe actor used Claude to create a \u201cfront NGO that coped a real Swiss organisation\u2019s identity and published state-authored human rights reports under it,\u201d Anthropic said.\n\nThey also ghost wrote official testimonies with the \u201cgoal of having them delivered by two people at the 62nd session of the UN Human Rights Council\u201d.\u00a0\n\n\u201cThe content was engineered with specific restrictions ensuring that neither speech mentioned the UAE,\u201d Anthropic said in its report.\n\nThe operation used Claude to research and profile 18 members of the European parliament and prominent journalists. \u201cThey compiled counter-accountability dossiers on UN Special Rapporteurs who had criticized the conduct of the UAE in Sudan,\u201d the AI company said of the Emirati-directed actor.\n\nAnthropic said that though the operation was built not to be traced, its investigation \u201clinked it with high confidence to UAE government officials\u201d. Senior Emirati officials were named as intended recipients of the work."
