(WTVA) – Authorities captured a kidnapping suspect out of state on Friday. David Tyler Jones, 19, of Smithville, was captured in Alabama after taking a vehicle and fleeing Monroe County, the sheriff’s office announced. An arrest warrant had been issued for Jones on Thursday after evading law enforcement since the weekend with a runaway teen. The pair avoided being found, even after a wreck on Monday. (https://www.wtva.com/2026/09/10/authorities-charge-man-with-kidnapping-runaway-teen/) RELATED - Authorities charge man with kidnapping of runaway teen The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office warned Jones over the phone on Wednesday that if the runaway teen were not brought back to her family, he would face a kidnapping charge. Shortly after the announcement of the warrant on Thursday, the runaway 14-year-old was recovered, law enforcement said. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said that a 30-year-old Lindsey Nicole Young, of the Bethlehem community, has also been arrested in connection with the case. She has been charged with accessory after the fact and hindering prosecution. Copyright 2026 WTVA. All rights reserved.
