HOUSTON, Miss. (WTVA) – Plans are in place for a new facility at a Chickasaw County school.
Houston High School has plans for a new state-of-the-art athletic facility that school leaders said will benefit students for generations.
The vision goes well beyond Friday night football, providing new opportunities for football, track, soccer, band, cheer, and other Hilltopper programs.
The superintendent said the goal is to create a first-class facility that can serve all of Houston’s student-athletes.
“We had students compete for state championships in track that haven’t had a track to practice on,” said Chickasaw County School District Superintendent William Cook. “We want to work on that and get that fixed. The turf field will go with that. And that’ll benefit everybody as well. Football will play on it. It is something to be used by all of our sports and all of our students.”
School leaders said this is just the beginning, as more upgrades to athletic facilities are expected to come across the entire Chickasaw County School District.
