TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) – Americans remember 9/11 in many ways. A common memorial is a stair climb.

Firefighters who were just getting their start when the Twin Towers fell now participate in a stair climb every year in Tupelo.

“After 9/11, I remember all across the country,” shared Tupelo Fire Battalion Chief Terry Robinson, who was on shift with the Saltillo Fire Department that day. “The fire department was cross-training, if you will, of taking a lot of WMD classes. Weapons of mass destruction classes.”

“I do the stair climb each year just to honor the fallen and remember their legacy,” said Tupelo Fire Battalion Chief Adam Sharp, who was also in his first years in the fire industry at the time.
