TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) – Tupelo’s ban on the sale of kratom will soon begin.
The Tupelo Police Department issued a reminder on Thursday that enforcement of the new ordinance will begin Saturday, Sept. 12 at 10 a.m.
The City of Tupelo approved the ban in February. However, enforcement had been on hold as a legal challenge went through the courts.
Police said that businesses selling kratom or kratom products should prepare to comply.
“The City has allowed the legal process to run its course, and businesses have been permitted to continue selling these products during that time. We are providing businesses with 48 hours notice and an opportunity to come into compliance before enforcement begins. Our goal is voluntary compliance with the ordinance.”
