Columbus teen arrested after shots fired at vehicle

Ricardo Cunningham Jr.

Police have made one arrest in connection to a Sunday shooting and more are expected, a Columbus Police Department press release said.

Ricardo Cunningham Jr., 18, of Columbus, is charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault.

Police responded to the area of 501 Brooks Road on Sunday in response to reports of shots fired. CPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Nicholas Hairston said there was an altercation at the scene that led to Cunningham allegedly firing at a vehicle with two occupants.

While there were no injuries reported, Hairston said the vehicle was damaged. He did not know exactly what time the shooting happened.

Cunningham is being held at Lowndes County Adult Detention Center, and his bond had not been set as of press time Tuesday.
