TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - The Lee County Sheriff says a Florida man wanted for crimes against children in Lee County has been captured in Alabama.
Chad Preston Davis is behind bars in Alabama.
Sheriff Jim Johnson says the 52-year-old was captured in Marion County, and he has begun the extradition process.
Davis was arrested in February following his indictment on 2 counts of statutory rape, 4 counts of sexual battery of a child under 16 and 2 counts of fondling.
The reported crimes occurred between June 2024 and October 2025.
Sheriff Johnson said Davis made bond in March, but failed to show up for his arraignment.
The sheriff hopes to get Davis extradited back to Mississippi soon.
Davis is accused of calling the victim in this case last month.
The judge issued a new arrest warrant and ordered Davis held without bond.
A hearing will take place on September 21st once he returns to Mississippi.
