TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) — State and local law enforcement agencies have launched a new initiative to target crime across northern Mississippi, with an emphasis on southern Lee County.

The initiative, called Operation Load Out, follows two previous operations called Overload and Reload.

It includes a special emphasis on targeting fentanyl.

District Attorney Jason Herring, Department of Public Safety Commissioner Sean Tindell and other law enforcement officials held a news conference inside the Lee County Justice Center on Thursday afternoon.

They declared Operations Overload and Reload a success.

With those two missions complete, Herring is now focusing on Operation Load Out, which covers his district of Alcorn, Itawamba, Lee, Monroe, Pontotoc, Prentiss and Tishomingo counties.
