UPDATED with JD Vance statement: One of Donald Trump‘s favorite Fox anchors is out at Rupert Murdoch‘s media empire. “Effective today, Maria Bartiromo is no longer with Fox News Media,” the company said Thursday of the Fox Business host. “We thank Maria for her work over the last 12½ years and wish her all the best on her next chapter.” In much the same tone as Fox’s sudden tossing of Tucker Carlson in 2023, there was no reason given for Bartiromo’s equally sudden exit. The longtime small-screen host has not said anything on her social feeds or otherwise. Bartiromo’s ouster from Fox does not have to do with the ex-CNBC star moving to another network, I hear. The Fox departure also doesn’t come from Bartiromo scoring a plum White House gig, sources tell me — at least not yet. Watch on Deadline There has been speculation from many quarters that Bartiromo could be named as Trump’s new White House press secretary. The timing is certainly telling to some, as Thursday was the first White House press briefing since Karoline Leavitt left the post. Vice President JD Vance conducted the oddly delayed briefing. When asked about Bartiromo getting the podium gig at today’s nearly 30-minute delayed briefing, the otherwise fairly confident VP seemed to get nervous. With obvious knowledge that a certain audience of one was watching, Vance responded, laughing, sorta: “I don’t know, man. … No, I don’t think so.” JD Vance Known as the “Money Honey” for her years covering Wall Street live from floor of the New York Stock Exchange, Bartiromo was last on Fox Business on August 9. She last appeared on-air on Fox News itself on August 7. Her absence the last month caused barely a ripple among mediaheads until today’s news of her exit. Going forward, Mornings with Maria will be called Morning with Fox Business and feature rotating hosts over the next few weeks. Bartiromo’s now-former FNC show Sunday Morning Futures will be fronted by Jason Chaffetz this week, with a new permanent host to be named soon, we hear. Very open in recent years about her MAGA leanings and always providing a welcome platform for Trump in and out of office, Bartiromo joined Fox in 2014 after two decades at CNBC. The two-time News Emmy-winning Bartiromo is repped by CAA.
