FULTON, Miss. (WTVA) — A workplace accident near an Itawamba County waterway killed a man.

Coroner Sheila Summerford identified the victim as Scott Pannell, 42, of Fulton.

The accident happened Wednesday afternoon near the banks of the Tennessee–Tombigbee Waterway.

She said Pannell worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and was supervising a clean-up project.

A tree fell on him, the coroner said, and he died at the scene of the accident.
