It reflects the president\u2019s priorities for the force, which are carried out by the defense secretary, and includes insights from the military\u2019s top generals and admirals that inform the directives the Pentagon issues.Naturally, whoever leaked the SDOB to the Post did so anonymously. Sean Parnell is already investigating the leak. If Hegseth ever finds out who the leaker is, and I hope he does, that individual or individuals will face some very serious consequences. Those consequences should and likely will include prosecution, not merely dismissal.\u00a0Setting the leaker aside for now, the question must be asked. Why would The Washington Post run with this story when its only effect would be to jeopardize operational security and demoralize troops serving overseas?\u00a0\n Recommended\n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n Sadly, everyone knows the answer to that question.\u00a0But one of the greatest champions and defenders on X of our warfighters, at home and abroad, InfantryDort, had had just about enough of the deliberate attempts by American media to subvert our military. In much of America today, that barely buys a house.\u00a0We know our lot and we\u2019re not complaining about it.\u00a0But the job is hard enough without having to wonder whether an American newspaper is going to publish classified wartime command deliberations because its newsroom despises the administration and wants another cheap political scalp.\u00a0Fight the President, the Secretary, the Pentagon. Whatever, that\u2019s politics.\u00a0But when the ammunition for that fight is information tied to ongoing operations and the private judgments of senior commanders, you\u2019re spending our risk to buy your headline.\u00a0That\u2019s the part WE need you to understand.\u00a0Murphy already gets a vote. So does the enemy. Exhaustion, bad intelligence, mechanical failure and plain rotten luck all get votes. Leaking an SDOB? That\u2019s objectively insane behavior.It goes without saying that this plea will fall on deaf ears within the Post's newsroom. They don't care. They operate with hatred of Donald Trump as their number one priority.
