Telegram/belpepel A Ukrainian attack on the Russian city of Belgorod caused several casualties on Sunday, acting regional Governor Alexander Shuvaev (https://t.me/aleksandr_shuvaev/1356) said . “According to preliminary information, there are casualties. Several fires have also been reported following the strikes,” Shuvaev said on Telegram, adding that emergency services were dispatched to the attack sites. He did not provide details on the number of people injured. Local Telegram channels (https://t.me/parmenovosti/5137) reported that Belgorod experienced at least one missile strike. Videos shared on social media (https://t.me/belpepel/24608) showed multiple fires burning across the city, including one reportedly (https://t.me/belpepel/24617) near Belgorod’s television tower. One of the strikes reportedly hit the Belgorod thermal power plant, where a fire broke out, (https://t.me/belpepel/24602) said local media outlet Pepel. The country's second-largest retailer Ozon (https://t.me/ostorozhno_novosti/54241) reported that its local warehouse was also hit by a strike. The company said that local employees were evacuated but there were still casualties and suspended its operations in Belgorod as a result. Ukraine began attacking Ozon warehouses last week after more than a month of strikes against facilities owned by its biggest competitor Wildberries. Officials in Kyiv have accused Wildberries of supplying the Russian military with drone parts and other equipment. The Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine, has faced frequent Ukrainian drone and missile attacks, with casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure reported. Russia's Prosecutor General's Office has designated The Moscow Times as an "undesirable" organization, criminalizing our work and putting our staff at risk of prosecution. This follows our earlier unjust labeling as a "foreign agent." These actions are direct attempts to silence independent journalism in Russia. The authorities claim our work "discredits the decisions of the Russian leadership." We see things differently: we strive to provide accurate, unbiased reporting on Russia. We, the journalists of The Moscow Times, refuse to be silenced.
