Police are searching for a suspect in a Thursday shooting that sent a man to the hospital.

In a press release issued Friday, Columbus Police Department identified Antonio Thompson Jr., 22, as a suspect in the shooting.

Officers responded Thursday evening to the 1500 block of 24th Street North in reference to a report of a gunshot victim. At the scene, they found a 28-year-old man suffering a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, who was then taken by ambulance to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.

Pentyonilla Frierson, 43, Thompson’s mother, was arrested Thursday and charged with accessory after the fact in connection to the case. Police Chief Garland Ward told the Dispatch Frierson allegedly picked Thompson up from the scene and took him to another residence, knowing he allegedly shot someone.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information about the shooting or Thompson’s whereabouts is asked to contact CPD at (662) 244-3500 or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at (800) 530-7151.
