The Super Mario Galaxy Movie also had a solid start with 777 million minutes on Peacock. The previous week\u2019s overall No. 1, Masters of the Universe, fell to fourth among movies with 588 million viewing minutes.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\t\u2191 \u00a0It was a rather quiet week for original series, led by Netflix\u2019s true crime show The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare with 864 million minutes of watch time. This also puts Brand New Day as Sony\u2019s highest-grossing domestic film after it set the record last weekend for the top global release in the studio\u2019s history.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\t\u2191 With all attention on a rapidly consolidating media industry, a look at Nielsen\u2019s latest Media Distributor Gauge is striking: Yes,\u00a0YouTube\u00a0is still dominating, but look at Paramount (which includes\u00a0CBS\u00a0and\u00a0Paramount+) in this ranking\u00a0just below\u00a0Netflix\u00a0in\u00a0total TV use. \u201cNetflix received a boost from acquired series La Brea, which was the second most-streamed title of the month with over 4 billion viewing minutes,\u201d Nielsen noted. And that\u2019s before\u00a0Paramount CEO David Ellison\u00a0will get\u00a0to\u00a0add in\u00a0Warner Bros. Discovery\u2019s 6 percent share if his $111 billion deal eventually closes.
