(Top 10 Streaming - Movies) ↑ The Devil Wears Prada 2 led the movies chart and finished second overall with 911 million viewing minutes for the week of its streaming premiere on Disney+ and Hulu. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie also had a solid start with 777 million minutes on Peacock. The previous week’s overall No. 1, Masters of the Universe , fell to fourth among movies with 588 million viewing minutes. (Top 10 Streaming - Originals) ↑ It was a rather quiet week for original series, led by Netflix’s true crime show The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare with 864 million minutes of watch time. That’s the lowest weekly total for the No. 1 show on the originals list in (https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/streaming-ratings-aug-19-25-2024-1236007404/) nearly two years . (Top 10 Streaming - Acquired) ↑  Though it’s been one of the most streamed shows in the United States for the past three-plus years, The Big Bang Theory had never reached the top of the Nielsen charts until (https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/streaming-ratings-july-27-aug-2-2026-1236683626/) this week . (Broadcast TV Ratings) ↑ While an NFL preseason game between the Seahawks and Titans led the primetime rankings, the two most watched network shows of the week aired earlier in the day: ABC’s World News Tonight (8.25 million viewers) and the NBC’s Nightly News (6.46 million). (https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/lists/2026-tv-premiere-dates-calendar) What’s premiering on TV this week: Saturday, Aug. 29 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT: Saturday Night College Football (ABC) Sunday, Aug. 30 11:30 p.m.: The Robot Chicken Adult Swim Special (Adult Swim) (Box Office: Top 25 Movies - Domestic) ↑ Sony and Marvel’sSpider-Man: Brand New Day (https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/spider-man-brand-new-day-box-office-insidious-mutiny-2-1236678980/) surpassed 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home to become the No. 3 highest-grossing film ever at the domestic box office. This also puts Brand New Day as Sony’s highest-grossing domestic film after it set the record last weekend for the top global release in the studio’s history. (Domestic Box Office, By Year) (Box Office: Year-to-Date Domestic Grosses) (TV Viewing, Ranked by Company) ↑ With all attention on a rapidly consolidating media industry, a look at Nielsen’s latest Media Distributor Gauge is striking: Yes, YouTube is still dominating, but look at Paramount (which includes CBS and Paramount+) in this ranking just below Netflix in total TV use. “Netflix received a boost from acquired series La Brea , which was the second most-streamed title of the month with over 4 billion viewing minutes,” Nielsen noted. And that’s before Paramount CEO David Ellison will get to add in Warner Bros. Discovery’s 6 percent share if his $111 billion deal eventually closes. Another wild card, keep in mind that if Lachlan Murdoch has his way that 3 percent you see on The Roku Channel will be added in to Fox if his $22 billion deal closes. (The Top Broadway Shows) ↑ Grosses for Moulin Rouge! jumped up by more than $1 million last week, reaching $2.2 million, as original cast member Aaron Tveit rejoined the cast for the end of the show’s run.
