A comprehensive feasibility study was agreed on during the April 2026 meeting in Nairobi,\u201d Kabonero told officials from Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda and South Sudan at Mestil Hotel.\n\n\u201cAn account was opened at Standard Chartered Bank Uganda for partner states to deposit their contributions. The deadline is September 30, 2026, to launch the study,\u201d he added.\nThe initiative is intended to examine the technical, commercial and regulatory viability of acquiring a communications satellite owned by the participating governments. \nOfficials did not disclose the cost of the study or how much each country is expected to contribute.\nA technical official told the meeting that all preparatory requirements had been completed and that commencement of the study now depended on the release of money by the participating states.\n\u201cThe account is available now.
