HOUSTON, Miss. (WTVA) — Chickasaw County is mourning the death of a longtime public official.

Constable Billy Voyles died overnight at the Tupelo hospital, multiple sources told WTVA 9 News.

His cause of death is unknown at this time.

Sheriff Jim Meyers said Voyles served as constable at the time of his death.

Voyles was also the last elected Houston police chief before the position became appointed instead of elected, the sheriff added.
