London | The ceasefire in Gaza appears to be settling into a rhythm in which, if an Israeli soldier is killed or other infractions occur, Israel’s military will unleash a fierce counter-response before de-escalating back to an uneasy truce.

The flurry of airstrikes in a 24-hour period over Tuesday and Wednesday killed 104 Palestinians, including 46 children, according to the Hamas-run health ministry, the most significant loss of life since the remaining living Israeli hostages were released on October 13.
