Sergei Aksyonov, the Kremlin-appointed head of Crimea, (https://t.me/Aksenov82/9881) (said) said three people, including a child, were wounded in a fatal attack on the peninsula’s Simferopol district. Aksyonov added that a separate attack elsewhere in the region injured one person. In Russia, Perm region Governor Dmitry Makhonin (https://t.me/mahonin59/13019) (said) said Friday morning that air defense systems downed 16 Ukrainian drones during an air attack, leaving one man injured. Makhonin also said that an industrial facility was damaged in an overnight drone attack, though he provided no further details. No injuries occurred at the site, he said. Unconfirmed (https://t.me/astrapress/122747) (reports) reports suggested a Lukoil-operated oil refinery was targeted, with social media images purportedly showing smoke rising above the facility Friday morning following the drone attack. Located around 1,400 kilometers (870 miles) from the Ukrainian border, the refinery processed around 12.6 million tons of oil in 2024, according to Reuters. Ukraine has previously attacked the facility. Russia’s Defense Ministry (https://t.me/mod_russia/66662) (said) said it intercepted 325 Ukrainian drones across Russia and annexed Crimea between Thursday night and Friday morning. Russia's Prosecutor General's Office has designated The Moscow Times as an "undesirable" organization, criminalizing our work and putting our staff at risk of prosecution. This follows our earlier unjust labeling as a "foreign agent." These actions are direct attempts to silence independent journalism in Russia. The authorities claim our work "discredits the decisions of the Russian leadership." We see things differently: we strive to provide accurate, unbiased reporting on Russia. We, the journalists of The Moscow Times, refuse to be silenced.
