The Iraqi president said attacks launched from inside Iraq against countries in the region \u201chave no justification\u201d.\u201cEveryone is keen to prevent Iraq from being dragged into the ongoing war in the region,\u201d he said, adding that its repercussions \u201chave been harsh on our country\u201d.On the Strait of Hormuz, Amidi said it \u201caffects the whole world, not only Iraq\u201d, adding that Baghdad remained in talks with Iran over what he described as \u201ccomplex problems\u201d in the strait.\u201dAl Jazeera\u2019s Tohid Asadi, reporting from Tehran, described the situation around the strait as a \u201cholding pattern that applies not only to Iraqis but also all countries\u201d.\u201cThe situation at the Strait of Hormuz remains still vague as Iran has been involved in talks with Oman to find the arrangements for the reopening of the strait,\u201d Asadi said.\u201cSo far, no deal has been reached, regardless of the good progress that Iran has been talking about. And obviously \u2013 speaking of the larger context \u2013 the United States is another determinant when it comes to the closure of the strait, as the Iranians are saying that as long as the naval blockade continues, the strait is going to remain closed,\u201d he added.Speaking to Al Jazeera, Mostafa Khoshcheshm, a professor at the University of Applied Sciences in Tehran, said Iran has decided to let Iraqi oil tankers pass through the Strait of Hormuz because Baghdad has \u201calways stood up to the United States\u201d.Khoshcheshm suggested Iran is looking to punish Gulf states, which have allowed US forces to use their military bases to launch attacks on Iran \u2013 an accusation regional countries\u2019 deny \u2013 while treating Iraq as a \u201cfriendly state\u201d.\u201cIran has requested other states to do the same [and] stop the US from using their territory,\u201d the analyst added.Iraq \u2060has been among the countries most affected by Iran\u2019s effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Traffic in the strait remains significantly \u2060below pre-war levels and ships continue to face attacks in the \u2060area.Iraq produced approximately 4 million \u2060barrels of oil per day before the outbreak of the US-Israel war on Iran.
